Post Injury Care at North Bay Spine and Rehab
According to Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there are approximately 1,100 auto accidents per day throughout the state. Many of these accidents result in injuries that require medical attention. These injuries could have life-altering impacts to accident victims if not treated right away. What many people don’t know is that the medical care for injuries sustained during an accident are covered by most auto insurance carriers as long as the patient seeks medical attention within 14 days after the accident. “I’ve seen firsthand the mental, physical and financial stress post-accident patients experience. These patients weren’t anticipating getting into an accident so the process can be very daunting for them.” Said Dr. Bowser.
At North Bay Spine and Rehab, Dr. Bowser and his team understand the nuances in treating patients with post-accident injuries. The office prioritizes getting these patients in quickly to assess their injuries and develop a personalized treatment plan that can help get them on the path to recovery. They recognize that every patient’s situation and injuries are different which is why they take a multifaceted approach when treating post-traumatic injuries. The treatment typically begins with a physical assessment of the patient, depending on the severity of the injury, additional diagnostic testing and recommendations are then made.
“After an initial evaluation,” Dr. Bowser explains, “the diagnostic imaging that we do usually starts with X-rays to rule out any fractures, dislocations or other pathologies. Then, we may order an MRI of the injured regions to rule out soft tissue trauma that may not be detected on X-ray film, such as: spinal cord injuries and spinal disc herniations, as well as injuries to the muscle, ligament and/or tendon. While we wait for those images, we provide conservative treatments to make the patient more comfortable while controlling their acute pain and inflammation. Due to the severity of the patients’ injuries, we often refer to trusted orthopedic specialists in our area with an emphasis on comanaging the patients’ symptoms to achieve the best outcome for their individual needs.”
Patients who are involved in an auto accident should note that in addition to treating neck and back issues, Dr. Bowser also assesses and treats upper and lower extremity injuries. This allows him to provide a full work up of the patient’s injuries and come up with a comprehensive plan that will not only alleviate their pain, but get to the root cause of the issue.
North Bay Spine and Rehab offers a number of non-surgical treatments, such as: spinal decompression therapy, cold laser therapy, chiropractic and extremity adjustments, massage therapy, and physiotherapy. “We want to meet patients where they’re at, which is why we offer a wide array of treatment options in addition to traditional chiropractic adjustments. I understand that for some patients it may be their first time seeing a chiropractor and are nervous or they might still be dealing with body tenderness as result of the impact from their accidents. So, for a patient who is hesitant to get an adjustment after an accident I often recommend gentle therapeutic exercises and stretches coupled with non-surgical decompression therapy as an option.” Said Dr. Bowser.
“A family member of mine referred me to North Bay Spine & Rehab. So far, I am very happy with my decision to go this route to take care of my neck injury. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. You can tell they care about their patients and are passionate about what they do. One thing I really like about this practice as well, is that it's not just a place to see a chiropractor and get adjustments. There's so much more to it such as physical therapy and massage therapy. There's a reason why this practice has such great ratings. You won't be disappointed. I know I'm not.” – Jenn
“Excellent experience and results. Complete relief from the shoulder and arm pain that I experienced while sleeping on my left and right side. I also got relief for my fatigued neck and shoulders; which was partially due to my bad posture, and relief from my annoying jaw pain. Dr. Bowser listened to all my concerns and explained the plan before even starting treatment. I always thought Chiropractors were for accident injury victims. That thinking was completely wrong. My range of motion and movements are so much better and pain-free after a relatively short course of therapies with Dr. Bowser and his exceptional staff. This was all without pain tablets. The office is clean, the staff exercised all the current practices to prevent the spread of infection and they are considerate and friendly. All costs and treatments were discussed and detailed in a packet presented to me.” – Joan
These are just a few of the many online endorsements Dr. Bowser continues to receive. The theme that runs through each is the compassionate care in a welcoming environment that he and his team provide for each patient.
