Kinesio Taping

Kinesio Taping

Kinesio taping is a therapeutic technique that uses a specialized elastic tape to support muscles and joints without restricting movement. Unlike traditional athletic tape that immobilizes an area, Kinesio tape is designed to move with your body, allowing you to maintain a full range of motion while still receiving support.

The tape mimics the elasticity of human skin and is applied strategically to target specific muscles, joints, or areas of inflammation. When applied, the tape gently lifts the outer layer of skin, which may help create microscopic space between the skin and the tissues beneath it. This can assist in reducing pressure on pain receptors, improving circulation, and promoting better lymphatic drainage.

Kinesio tape uses a medical-grade, water-resistant adhesive that typically stays in place for three to five days, allowing patients to continue their normal daily activities, including exercise and showering.

At North Bay Spine and Rehab, Kinesio taping is commonly used to help:

  • Reduce pain and inflammation
  • Provide gentle joint and muscle support
  • Improve posture and movement patterns
  • Decrease muscle fatigue and overuse
  • Promote circulation and healing in injured tissues
  • Support recovery from sprains, strains, and sports injuries

Kinesio taping can be beneficial for a wide variety of conditions including neck pain, back pain, shoulder injuries, knee pain, tendonitis, muscle strains, and postural imbalances. It is often used alongside chiropractic adjustments, rehabilitation exercises, and other therapies to help enhance recovery and improve function.

Many patients appreciate Kinesio taping because it provides continuous support between visits, helping the body maintain proper movement and stability while healing.

Ask our team during your visit if Kinesio taping may be beneficial as part of your treatment plan.
